Let's get into it:
As soon as I opened my laptop this morning I realized that there are two, very heavy cases in court today. Lindsay Clancy is still waiting for a Massachusetts jury of her peers to decide her fate. The 9 women and 3 men serving on that jury have been deliberating since Thursday and on Tuesday they came back and told the judge they could not come to a unanimous decision. Judge Sullivan told them to keep deliberating. Before them are first degree murder charges along with manslaughter, they could go either way, or choose to let her off entirely. If they can't agree, there'll be a hung jury and the case could be retried.
Clancy has plead not guilty due to reason of insanity, the whole thing has turned into a referendum on women's mental health post-pregnancy and child birth, she's had supporters out there claiming that every mom knows what she felt like before killing her own three children. I think that's all absurd. Yeah, sometimes it's hard to be alive, but there is never any excuse for killing your children, and anyone who does kill their children should face the full consequences of the law.
The other aspect of this is how can women argue to be in charge of anything if this verdict comes back that we're just supposed to accept that sometimes women are so beholden to their hormones, so susceptible to prescription drugs administered under a doctor's care, that they can't even be held accountable for killing their own children? Sure, "not all women," but the way these supporters are yammering on, you'd think "yes, all women."
In Judge Tony's Graf's Utah court, Tyler Robinson will sit as his fate is decided as to whether or not he faces trial in the murder of Charlie Kirk. After seeing all the evidence, reading all the documentation, and following every minute of this hearing process and into the preliminary hearing where prosecutors laid out their probable cause arguments, I think there's every reason for Graf to decide to go ahead with the trial. There seems to be plenty of probable cause to believe that Robinson is the guy.
The judge in this case has been careful, seemingly making sure that should Robinson be found guilty, there is no room for appeal on procedural grounds. We know from recent defense filings that they seek to discredit the DNA analysis and the DNA analysis expert testimony that was delivered so that they can debunk the evidence that Robinson's DNA was found on items he is reasonably believed to have left behind at the scene. Prosecutors and defense will make closing arguments today from the July preliminary hearing.
If it seems like this is dragging out interminably that's because it is. Charlie was murdered almost one year ago. It was a devastating day that I will never forget and that haunts me still. I remember thinking Charlie is so strong, how could he be killed? And then realizing, all it takes is just a moment for the forces of evil to get through and cause chaos. And chaos is what we've seen in the wake of Charlie's death.
