Check out our latest episode of The Pod Millennial! I talk to Texas Congressman Brandon Gill about the shifting landscape of the Democrat Party as socialists are on the rise and the party veers sharply left. It brings up serious questions about mass migration, cultural assimilation, and what it really means to be an American. New episodes drop every Tuesday! Listen, rate (5 stars, of course!), and subscribe!
Let's get into it:
Everyone with eyes can see that Gavin Newsom is a snake. He says what is expedient, he implements rules for others that he has no intention of following himself, and allegations of corruption have been leveled at him over potential financial misdeeds with his wife's non-profit and other ventures.
Turns out the FBI was onto him. They got one of his colleagues to wear a wire going back to 2024. Alexis Podesta recorded conversations she had with Newsom's chief of staff at the time, Dana Williamson. Williamson has already pleaded guilty to federal fraud charges and tax crimes this past May. Podesta was named as an uncharged co-conspirator.
The wiretapped conversations led the FBI to send letters to Newsom insiders in 2025, revealing that their phone calls had been caught up in the investigation. Williamson's lawyer confirmed, "Alexis wore a wire, and Dana did not." The Eastern District of California is investigating both Governor Gavin and "First Partner," as she calls herself, Jennifer Siebel Newsom.
Newsom has been fundraising following the revelations that he's under investigation. His wife's non-profits have been hemorrhaging cash and there was the recent kerfuffle over a free diaper scheme that was set to be implemented by the First Partner's crony, whose husband was a big Newsom donor, even though the diapers would cost California taxpayers more than if the state just bought in bulk at Costco.
The Governor has said the whole investigation is a Trump-instigated retribution operation. His wife said Trump has "no boundaries." Of course, when Trump was under federal investigation agents sifted through his wife's intimate things in her dresser in their Mar-a-Lago home.
Podesta has been a power-broker behind the scenes in California for years and then she became a lobbyist, which honestly has always struck me as a bit of a position open to corruption. The lobbyist takes money on behalf of a client to gain influence for the client's cause with politicians to make policy benefiting the client. I mean, that already sounds shady.
Before that, she was appointed by Newsom to the State Compensation Insurance Fund, and she still sits on that board, earning a little over $60,000 per year. Newsom knows she turned evidence for the FBI, but he keeps her on anyway. Podesta was accused, along with Williamson, of taking campaign funds from Xavier Becerra to benefit Becerra's former staffer Sean McCluskie. Becerra is now running for governor of the state.
California lawmaker Carl DeMaio has alleged that Newsom is using "taxpayer-funded staff and resources to defend a criminal probe into his personal matters." The DOJ is investigating the Newsoms over their personal conduct.
Whistleblower reports are what led to the investigation into Siebold Newsom's tax matters and it was brought by the US Attorney in Sacramento. We'll definitely be following this case.
And in the meantime, have a Happy Independence Day! This is my favorite holiday and I hope you get to chill out, have a couple of cans, some burgers, and a bellyful of laughs.
