Let's get into it:
The Democrat mayor of Arcadia, California, has admitted to being a Chinese spy. Eileen Wang admitted guilt and resigned after a Department of Justice probe and now faces 10 years in prison. Wang was working with her ex-fiance, a guy named Yaoning Sun, who was also one of her staffers during her campaign to win the elected seat. All of this comes as Trump is set to meet with Xi this week.
The duo was pushing Chinese propaganda, and Sun had already been sentenced to four years in prison. Wang's attorneys released a statement, saying "Events in Ms. Wang's personal life—including her trust and love for apparently the wrong person, who ultimately led her astray—require her to step away from public service."
Wang is blaming the other guy, but she was the one in office, she was the one pushing propaganda through her site with the authority of being an elected mayor of a California town behind her. And for sure, the other guy is definitely not great. The criminal complaint against Sun said that he and his CCP contacts were cultivating Wang to use her to strengthen Chinese influence in California. And that's exactly what they did. Wang said she didn't know about the plot.
US Attorney for California Bill Essayli said, "Wang admitted to acting as a foreign agent from at least 2020 through 2022. At the direction of the PRC government, she coordinated with individuals to promote PRC interests by spreading pro-PRC propaganda in the United States."
So who is Eileen Wang? She was born and raised in China and moved to the United States from Chengdu when she was 26 in 1995. Her mother was a practitioner of Chinese medicine and her father was a doctor in Sichuan before getting a job at USC. For the CCP, she was a "new political star" and was honored by US Rep Judy Chu as one of the "2024 Congressional Women of the Year."
San Gabriel's Mayor John Wu, elected around the same time as Wang, worries that Wang's status as a CCP spy could cause problems for other Asian elected leaders. He said it "could jeopardize the whole effort that Chinese American elected officials have been doing for years to serve the community. It could cause a whole generation's efforts to disappear."
I think there's a huge difference in Asian Americans born and raised in America and those either born overseas and raised there or born in America as part of the birth tourism industry and raised overseas. Americans who serve in elected office in our nation, no matter what their stripes, are far less likely to become tools of foreign governments.
There is cause for concern about Chinese immigrants who have emigrated to the US as students. Speaking to The Pod Millennial, Chloe Cheung revealed that no Chinese student is permitted to study in the West without CCP approval. That means they are under the thumb of a foreign, adversarial, communist government. Further, there are some 1.15 million American born Chinese babies being raised in China with US passports who could be used as assets by the CCP to infiltrate our highest elected offices. Maybe that sounds crazy, but we've seen crazier.
