Apr 29, 2026 | SPLC covered up bias incidents against white students

How's it going America,

Check out our latest episode of The Pod Millennial! Make America Pro-Life Again: "Safe, legal, and rare” — remember when that was the standard? I talk with Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life, about how we got from that to abortion on demand at nine months.

Let's get into it:

In 2016, the SPLC sent out a questionnaire to those subscribed to their Teaching Tolerance newsletter in which they sought to get the temperature of the nation's schools following the election of Donald Trump to his first term in the White House. The form asked a series of questions:

"How would you describe the impact of the election results on your school’s climate?
How would you describe the impact of the election results on your school’s climate?
Is there anything you’d like to tell us about your school and the students you serve?
How has the election affected the mood and behavior of students at your school?"

"And then a series of questions that could be answered with the responses • Strongly disagree • Somewhat disagree • Somewhat agree • Strongly agree"

"Since the election:
My students have expressed concern about what might happen to them or their families.
There has been anti-immigrant sentiment at my school.
There has been anti-Muslim sentiment at my school.
I have heard derogatory language or slurs about students of color.
I have heard derogatory language or slurs about white students.
I have heard derogatory language or slurs based on gender or sexual orientation.
Students are targeting other students based on who they supported in the election."

"If specific incidents of election-related bigotry or harassment have occurred in your school, please describe them. You may include a link.
Please describe any examples of hope or inclusion that have occurred in your school following the election.
How are you, other educators, and administration responding?
Use this space for comments or additional information you’d like to share.
What resources or support do you and your school need?
What resources, programs, or interventions are you currently using?"

The SPLC put out a report that contained the information from the questionnaires. But they left out the responses to one of those questions. They did not include information on the responses to "I have heard derogatory language or slurs about white students." Instead, their report focused on anecdotes, saying, "The survey data indicate that the results of the election are having a profoundly negative impact on schools and students. Ninety percent of educators report that school climate has been negatively affected, and most of them believe it will have a long-lasting impact. A full 80 percent describe heightened anxiety and concern on the part of students worried about the impact of the election on themselves and their families."

At the time, the SPLC was asked to provide the data from that question. They said they were "having a hard time getting the information 'from the researchers,'" reported the NY Post. When they finally got around to answering, they said that "about 20 percent answered affirmatively to that question." That would be about 2,000 biased incidents against white students. But the SPLC obfuscated and hid the data because it didn't suit their narrative or their fundraising goals.
