Let's get into it:
State-level lawmaker James Talarico knocked Jasmine Crockett out of the limelight during the Texas primaries this week, much to my dismay. I don't agree with anything she pushes for really, but I gotta say, I like Crockett's style and she's been fun to watch. So who is this guy who will face off against either incumbent Senator John Cornyn or MAGA firebrand Attorney General Ken Paxton?
We won't know until May which one of those two men will be on the ballot in November as neither of them met the threshold for a clean win, but we do know that they will have to spend three months going after each other, leaving Talarico free to make his case to the people of Texas.
So who is he? Already, the GOP mudslingers have been sharing clips of Talarico and his far-leftist views. Here's just a couple:
He told Joe Rogan that he justifies abortion in the immaculate conception of Jesus Christ. "I say all this in terms of, in the context of abortion, because before God comes over Mary and we have the Incarnation, God asks for Mary's consent, which is remarkable. I mean, go back and read this and in Luke. I mean, the angel comes down and asks Mary if this is something she wants to do. And she says, if it is God's will, let it be done. Let it be, let it happen.
"So to me, that is a an affirmation in one of our most central stories, that creation has to be done with consent. You cannot force someone to create. Creation is one of the most sacred acts that that, that we engage in as human beings, but that has to be done with consent. Has to be done with freedom and to me, that is absolutely consistent with the ministry and life and death of Jesus. And so that's why I That's how I come down on that side of the issue."
I preferred Mother Teresa's commentary on abortion. Once she was asked why God hadn't sent Jesus back yet for the Second Coming and she said he has, you just keep aborting him.
As for that God, Talarico thinks He's "nonbinary." He said "God is both masculine and feminine, and everything in between. God is non binary." And he's also said "For me, prophetic voices like Jesus have helped me reckon with my own whiteness, my own masculinity, my own certainty, my own ego. It's a never-ending process, and it's a painful process."
In a sermon, Talarico said he doesn't know what a woman is. "I want to acknowledge that our trans community needs abortion care too," he said. "Defending trans Texas is something we have to do every day at the state capitol, and you better believe I'll be giving sermons on that too. So when I use the word woman, it should not be understood as an exhaustive term, but rather as a as a lens through which to understand, examine and interrogate patriarchy, similar to how we specify anti black racism."
He thinks there are 6 biological sexes, which we all know does not hold up under scrutiny. "I want to tell us be aware of is that that modern science obviously recognizes that there are many more than two biological sexes. In fact, there are six, which honestly representative Hefner. Surprised me, too, because I, I, you know, am not well versed in this, this issue area, I'm not a scientist, I'm a politician. A lot worse than a scientist."
Talarico also believes that children can be born in the wrong body and that God intended it somehow, which makes no sense. "Trans children are God's children made in God's own image. There's nothing wrong with them, nothing at all. They are perfect. They are beautiful, and they are sacred. Bullying children is immoral. It's a sin, a special kind of sin." But he doesn't address the mental health professionals and doctors who bully these kids into taking drugs and undergoing surgeries just so they can more easily pass as the opposite sex once they're grown.
Trump said he'd soon endorse either Cornyn or Paxton and that the other guy should drop out. Paxton said he absolutely would not quit the race if Trump endorsed the other guy. Time will tell if Texas prefers a freaky pastor who believes in transing kids and uses Christianity to bash on "whiteness" or one of these other guys.
