Hi everyone-

Minneapolis went absolutely crazy this weekend as agitators took to the streets to protest the death of Renee Nicole Good, who died while obstructing law enforcement agents from doing their job earlier this week. Those agitators spent their days and nights obstructing law enforcement, harassing journalists, causing destruction, and engaging in mayhem.

Human Events correspondent Kevin Posobiec was out on those streets with Nick Sortor and others in independent media who were documenting the protests. Agitators made it clear that they weren't wanted there. Minneapolis is a sanctuary city in Minnesota, a sanctuary state. This means that the elected leaders and voters don't believe that they should have to follow federal law.

Frankly, it's time to put an end to sanctuary cities and states. There are 12 states and dozens of cities and counties across the country that engage in this lawless, insurrectionist behavior. They don't think they have to comply with immigration law and there was even a judge who backed up the concept, saying that sanctuary states come under the 10th Amendment.

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Now I'm no constitutional scholar but I don't think that means the federal immigration laws are only followed on a voluntary basis.

At the Golden Globes, celebs donned their usual form of performative protest, wearing "Be Good" pins in honor of Renee Good while others sported buttons reading "ICE out." This was not an organic happening, however, it was organized by the ACLU, Maremoto, Move On, the National Domestic Workers Alliance, and Working Families Power.

They enticed the celebs into wearing the pins with a press release that read "The #BeGood campaign aims to honor Renee Macklin Good and Keith Porter while also reminding us what it means to be good to one another in the face of such horror—to be a good citizen, neighbor, friend, ally and human. Everyday, everywhere, regular people are being good: keeping kids safe when they went to school filming fathers who are being disappeared from their workplaces, donating to fundraisers to support organizations who are keeping us safe."

The message there is clear: Renee Good was "being good" when she blocked federal officers from doing their jobs and carrying out the law, agitators who organize to prevent the enforcement of immigration law are "being good." And the best way to ensure that you, too, are a good person is to give money to non-profits that do the dirty work so you don't have to.
