The Trump administration took lethal aim at ISIS in Nigeria on Christmas and their goal was to protect Christians who have faced massacres for their faith at the hands of Muslim militants. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced that the Nigerian government aided in and approved the attack.
"The President was clear last month: the killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria (and elsewhere) must end," Hegseth said. "The @DeptofWar is always ready, so ISIS found out tonight — on Christmas. More to come... Grateful for Nigerian government support & cooperation. Merry Christmas!"
Trump posted, saying he had directed the attack and that "the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians, at levels not seen for many years, and even Centuries!" Trump said he warned them "there would be hell to pay" if they didn't stop killing Christians, "and tonight, there was."
Rep. Riley Moore, my congressman here in West Virginia, has been outspoken against the killing of Christians in Nigeria and shared "Do not test President Trump‘s resolve in this matter. Tonight's strike in coordination with the Nigerian government is just the first step to ending the slaughter of Christians and the security crisis affecting all Nigerians."
I know we're all waiting for pop star Nicki Minaj to weigh in—she spoke at the UN about the vicious killings and backed Trump in his resolve to end it. At TPUSA's America Fest this year, she said that her pastor is Nigerian and spoke about how important her Christian faith is to her.
A great deal has been made about the infiltration of Islam into Christian nations, the sweep of Islamism across the globe, especially into places that were once primarily Christian like Europe or the United States. The violence that religion holds within it—jihad, conversion at the tip of the sword, massacres of infidels—is not something that is compatible with life in Western Nations, where people of all faiths are encouraged to practice freely.
Allowing people to practice their faith freely is a Christian value. The values of Christianity like compassion, welcoming, and love of life have given us liberty and high-trust societies. And now purveyors of Islam and atheist leftism have perverted those values to undo the very societies Christianity has created.
Like most Americans, I have no issue with Muslims in America. There are Muslims in my life whom I adore, but the tenets of Islam have created societies around the world. We see those societies. The people who live there leave and come here. Importing those values on a social leadership level will only destroy what we have built and turn our societies into places from which people want to flee. But Americans have nowhere else to go, not really. The best social condition for Muslims who seek a peaceful, successful, high-trust lifestyle is in Christian societies. We can't give it up.
