Hi everyone-
It seems humanity is not done destroying each other for extremely stupid reasons. Over the weekend there were two mass shootings, one in Australia at Bondi Beach where a Pakistani father and son opened fire on a Hanukkah celebration, killing 16 people and injuring dozens of others.
At Brown University, a suspect is in custody after two students were killed, nine injured, when a gunman went into an economics lecture hall and opened fire. Students were gathered in the hall for an economics study session ahead of finals.
Motives in these shootings have not yet been announced, but the shooting in Australia seems to have an obvious motive. The Pakistani father and son likely were motivated by some kind of jihad type of thing. While a person of interest was detained in the Brown University shooting case, he was released. Turns out police got the wrong guy. The gunman is still at large.

My father texted me to ask if I'd heard about the Brown University shooting, and we talked about it. "Nihilism on the march," he said.
"When the existentialists and atheists gave up God I think it may never have occurred to them that they would usher in an amoral, relativist society. In loving and obeying God we loved humanity. Now we hate ourselves," I replied.
"True," he said. "I think self-hatred is the default state for human beings (except sociopaths), and only in realizing God’s love for us can we love ourselves and others." We were in agreement on that.
Erika Kirk gave an interview to Bari Weiss on CBS. She was asked a question by the same man who spoke to Charlie as he got shot to death. That man asked her to condemn Trump and did not offer condolences for her loss.
Erika was gracious when she answered him, and as part of her answer, said "Parents: step up! Do you want your kid to be a thought leader or an assassin? That's where we're at." Indeed, she's right, that's where we're at.
