Hi everyone-
Tyler Robinson made his first in-person court appearance in a Provo, Utah court on Thursday where he sat with his attorneys. He smiled, appeared to chuckle. His attorneys laughed.
The purpose of the hearing was so the judge could make a decision about media access during the trial. But he didn't. Instead, he decided that cameras could be permitted in the courtroom during the hearing and said that arguments could proceed on whether or not cameras would be permitted in the courtroom for trial on February 3.
There was talk about witnesses and pre-trial requirements. It was revealed that over 13,000 pieces of discovery had been given by police to the prosecution. The prosecutors found that there were a bunch of doubles and submitted some 7,000 pieces of evidence to the defense.

The defense is working through it and trying to get a handle on all of it. But what this all really shows us is that this trial is going to drag on forever. During the conversations between prosecutors, defense, and judge, they were scheduling dates into June—and that's all pre-trial stuff.
Meanwhile, Robinson will remain in prison. Potential jurors will continue to hear more and more about the case in advance of jury selection. And the story of Charlie Kirk's murder will continue to be in the public eye. The most important thing in this case is justice and transparency. And I hope we get it.
Cameras must be allowed in the courtroom, but also time is of the essence. Americans have the right to a speedy trial, I hope trial begins before the one year anniversary of Charlie's death.
