Hi everyone-

Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar did in fact marry her brother. A friend of hers, a Minnesota community organizer within the Somali community, explained that Omar left her husband, to whom she was married in a lavish, Islamic ceremony. After that, she married her brother in a Christian ceremony, which doesn't count in the Muslim religion.

The friend said Omar married her brother for the sole purpose of making him eligible for federal student loans. He attended college in North Dakota along with his sister, having obtained federal loans. That's fraud. Fraud is just a part of Somali culture. A global watchdog group gave the nation a 9 out of 100, it's at the bottom of the list, ranking 179th out of 180 countries for corruption.

The nation has had anti-corruption commissions but nothing has seemed to work. Aid agencies send funds there only to watch them fall into a black hole and not even go toward fixing the problems for which they were intended. Funds for climate, food, and everything else just vanish into an entrenched web of corruption. But somehow we're supposed to believe that when we import Somalians and their culture, the corruption part vanishes and everyone is trustworthy and honest by US standards.

It's just not true, and the fraud in Minnesota shows that. It's also starting to emerge that the Minnesota fraud is not the only instance of it in Somali communities across the country. If your culture is forged in a failed nation, you see government loopholes as opportunities to be taken advantage of. Such was the case in Minnesota.

And it looks like Tim Walz just wants more of it. At a fundraising luncheon for fellow Democrat Governor Bob Fergusson in Seattle, Walz assured donors that “Instead of demonizing our Somali community, we’re going to do more to welcome more in,” Walz said to applause. “Instead of cutting programs, we’re going to enhance them.” It's hard not to see this as just an invitation to more fraud.
