Hi everyone,
Trump met with Mamdani in the White House on Friday, and while I thought there was a good chance the two would come away the best of friends, I had a good inkling that this would not be the case. However, that was exactly the case.
Trump looked like Mamdani's favorite uncle, a mentor, an elder statesman guiding the young lad through the halls of power. The meeting wasn't on camera but the two men took questions in the Oval Office during a press spray.
"Some of his ideas are the same ideas that I have," Trump told reporters. Mamdani said that those Bronx voters who voted for him and also voted for Trump did so because of their interest in bringing peace to the Middle East.

When Mamdani was asked about having called the President a "fascist," and if he still stands by that assessment, he tried to deflect, but Trump put a hand on his shoulder and said "just say yes, it's easier, I don't mind." Trump said he'd been called much worse.
Trump said Mamdani would be a great mayor and that they'd work together on illegal immigration and other matters, while Mamdani noted that they disagree on many issues, without naming them.
If you've been following along, you know I didn't think they'd quite come to blows, but I did expect a little less coalescing of power. Jack Posobiec was in the room and asked a question of Mamdani, grilling him on his plan to tax whites more.
Again, Mamdani deflected, and also appeared to contradict his policy platform. Jack also noted that Mamdani never mentioned Christians, Americans, or any ethnicity that comprised any white people. Mamdani said he and Trump spoke about "affordability," and that he's interested in "property tax reform."
Posobiec pressed, Mamdani deflected, and said that he "intended to create a fair property tax system." "Fair" doesn't mean anything in a philosophy of grievances and victimhood. But mostly it seems that power is gonna power, if you know what I mean.
