A new account popped up on X, "EBT of TikTok," showing endless clips of people who are on food benefits who have taken to TikTok to complain about the cessation of benefits under the Democrat-forced government shutdown. Just as the Libs of TikTok account went viral, so too has this one.
Some people who say they are EBT beneficiaries have posted violent threats, saying that they're intending to start looting stores when the benefits dry up. Rapper Cardi B said benefits recipients are “gonna have to hunt raccoons n’ sh*t” for their Thanksgiving dinner.
Lots of people are blaming Trump, either not aware or not interested in the fact that Democrats are refusing to vote to open the government. Payments that are meant to go out on the first of November will not go out, the US Dept. of Agriculture said. This would be the first time benefits have failed to be delivered in the history of the program.
It does lead to concerns about the program itself, however, or at least should for the people who partake of it not just as a stopgap but as a lifestyle. If you're depending on the government to feed you, it quickly becomes apparent that they can starve you.
“I’ma tell y’all straight up like this, I just got that text that the link is definitely cut the f*ck off for November. Y’all better stay the f*ck out of my way in these stores because I’m walking out with carts and I’m not paying for sh*t," said one person.
Another one said, "You know what? Since they wanna take food stamps away, I’m gonna go to f*cking Walmart, grab anything I damn want, put that sh*t right in the basket and walk right up out that bitch … I’m not paying for a damn thing."
Democrats have now voted 13 times to keep the government closed. Some congressional reps have claimed it gives their party leverage. Chuck Schumer said that every day gets better for Dems due to the government shutdown. They have this idea that if they keep it going long enough people will start to turn on Trump—and they think that matters more than just getting things moving again.
They're also holding out until they can reasonably start to negotiate health insurance subsidies for those on the ACA, which are not up yet. Every year, health insurance premiums increase, but instead of dealing with medical costs, the Dems want to keep increasing payments at taxpayer expense.
"I’m gonna be stealing like it ain’t no tomorrow … I’m gonna have one of my cousins with me that’ll punch your ass so hard you’ll think a Jet2Holiday hit your bitch ass if you think ain’t gonna walk out that store," said another fresh face on EBT of TikTok.
The Dems' attitude to the GOP right now is like that proverbial big brother who takes hold of his little brother's hand and uses it to slap said brother in the face. "Why are you hitting yourself?" The big brother asks again and again. "Why are you hitting yourself?"
