Hi everyone,

I already had this written when the news broke this morning that a suspect is in custody in the killing of Charlie Kirk. Thomas Stevenson wrote it up, and you can read it here. Trump announced the capture on Fox and Friends this morning and it turns out that a family member turned the man in.

Here is the original newsletter:

On Wednesday, I went to church and prayed for miracles. On Thursday, we got word that the little girl who was shot in the head during the Annunciation Catholic School massacre in on the road to a miracle recovery.

She has been opening her eyes, moving her right leg, and showing awareness of her surroundings.

Sophia Forchas was shot in the head by a trans killer who had drawn images of himself in communion with demons. He was disturbed, intent on killing, intent on death, and Sophia may have escaped the clutches of that evil.

A bullet struck her in the temporal lobe. She suffered extreme brain damage. After 15 days in Hennepin Healthcare Trauma Center, after doctors removed part of her skull to relieve the swelling in her brain, leaving the bullet lodged where it was because that was safer than taking it out, she may actually recover.

She has been moved from critical condition to serious. Last week, her neurosurgeon Dr. Walt Galicich said "I’m going to be blunt, Sophia is still in critical condition in the intensive care unit. There’s a chance that she’s maybe the third fatality of this event."

"But the door has been opened a little bit and there’s some rays of hope shining through," he also said at the time.

"Sophia is kind. She is brilliant. She is full of life. She is an innocent child who was attacked while in prayer," her father said.

This has been a very difficult, sickening few days. The world lost a good man, a wife has become a widow, two children will grow up without a father. These are things that happen every day in America, every day across the world, and that doesn't make any of them less tragic. It also doesn't take away the very specific hurt that lots of people are feeling who didn't even know Charlie Kirk, or who met him in debate, or like me just a handful of times over the years.

But there are miracles. Life is goodness. Perhaps my ask for miracles was not granted. Perhaps those miracles were given to Sophia—I choose to believe that. And I choose to believe in miracles to come.

Love your family. Hug your dog. Feel the sun warm you. Be nourished. Do what gives you solace.

All my love to you,

Libby
