A protest against Virginia gubernatorial candidate Lt. Governor Winsome Sears was held on Thursday and one progressive, gray-haired white woman held up what she undoubtedly believed was a scathingly brilliant sign. It read, "Hey Winsome, If trans can't share your bathroom then blacks can't share my water fountain."
Yes, this woman actually hand-lettered her sign, read it over to make sure it had no mistakes, brought it to a protest against a black Republican woman, and held it up for literally the entire world to see. She even put two American flags on either side of the sign, just so everyone would know that this is what she thinks America is all about.
Lots of people on social media posted about it, because it's just that insane. So let's break it down. Sears does not believe that men are women or boys are girls. She's firmly in favor of sex-segregated bathrooms in academic settings. By making bathrooms single sex in schools, ideally, Virginia could avoid situations such as two high-profile incidents in super-rich Loudoun County.
In one high school, a girl was raped by a male classmate who wore a skirt and came into the girls' bathroom. The school board covered it up. When the girl's father found out about it and went to a school board meeting to find out why they'd covered up his daughter's rape and simply transferred the boy to another school, he was arrested.
In another high school, two boys were suspended after a girl who claimed to be a boy went into the boys' locker room and started filming them. That's right, she filmed them in a private space where they were attempting to change clothes and the boys were the ones who were suspended after they complained that she was in there in the first place.
To this woman, who thinks she is so forward thinking and on the right side of history, the real civil rights battle is in school children's bathrooms, where she thinks boys and girls should commingle, their privacy and personal space eliminated. To make her point really zing, she equated the fight for trans with the civil rights fight for racial equality under the law—and then she essentially told Sears that she had no right to drink the same water as she does.
And she didn't think there was anything wrong with that. Her view is that trans and race are the same thing, which on its face is a fabrication. All races have men and women, two sexes. Trans, however, is a lie: no man can become a woman, no woman can become a man, no amount of wishing or medical magic can make that happen.
This woman is so out of touch with reality that she has no understanding of just how racist what she said was. This is what progressivism and the Democratic Party are all about. It's shocking, but it's true. Later, this woman was told that her sign was not playing well on television. She didn't seem to be concerned about that.
