Jul 7, 2025 | No client list for Epstein, deadly flooding in Texas, America Party launches

Hi everyone!

A leaked memo from the FBI and DOJ reveals that Jeffrey Epstein had no client list and he didn't kill himself. The memo says that there's no "incriminating 'client list,'" and that after review of surveillance footage from outside Epstein's New York City jail cell, it's clear that the man killed himself back in 2019. The DOJ is not going to release all the files and documents in the case, saying that it wants to protect the victims.

"The files relating to Epstein include a large volume of images of Epstein," the memo reads, "images and video of victims who are either minors or appear to be minors, and over ten thousand downloaded videos and images of illegal child sex abuse material and other pornography.

"Teams of agents, analysts, attorneys, and privacy and civil liberties experts combed through the digital and documentary evidence with the aim of providing as much information as possible to the public while simultaneously protecting victims. Much of the material is subject to court-ordered sealing.

"Only a fraction of this material would have been aired publicly had Epstein gone to trial, as the seal served only to protect victims and did not expose any additional third parties to allegations of illegal wrongdoing. Through this review, we found no basis to revisit the disclosure of those materials and will not permit the release of child pornography."

The memo seems to be the last few nails in the Epstein coffin. His former lady friend Ghislaine Maxwell is still in jail after being sentenced to 20 years back in 2020. And now it looks like that promise of the Epstein files from the Trump DOJ will be broken, if this memo, leaked to Axios, proves out. Personally, I don't think this memo is going to go far in terms of the Epstein conspiracy theorists giving up that ghost, wondering who partook of what Epstein was selling, and how that powerful network of people with whom Epstein palled around was able to cover up their activities.

In Texas on Friday a massive flash flood spurred by heavy rains wiped out camp sites, homes, and children at a girls' Christian summer camp. Eleven are still missing from that camp, including 10 girls and a camp counselor. The death toll has hit over 100 as of Monday morning and is expected to keep climbing. Search and rescue efforts are still underway and just yesterday a woman was found alive clinging to a tree after having been swept down river.

Trump was swift in signing a major disaster declaration, which gets funds and resources moving quickly. Governor Greg Abbott took questions from the press on Sunday when he gave an update, saying that the recovery efforts were still search and rescue, with the emphasis on rescue. Further rain fall is still expected and because the ground is already so saturated and the rivers so bloated, it won't take much for more floods to form. At least 28 children were killed.

Recriminations abound, as they always do after tragedies strike. Concerns about early warning systems rose, with local leaders saying that they tried to fund alarm systems but they couldn't get those plans through local government. Blame was cast on Trump, as well, of course, over cuts to government programs. The National Weather Service started warning about potential flooding Wednesday of last week, but evacuations weren't ordered in time. And of course, some claimed the whole thing is because of climate change and those people believe that if mankind just didn't exist at all the world would be better off.

I can't imagine the agony the families of the lost and missing are going through. It always seems like life is so solid, you make plans for the future, you plan to see each other again, pick your children up from camp, and then it's just over suddenly, or upended to the point where the main task of life isn't getting to work, or making sure the kids brushed their teeth, but just going on at all. I offer my prayers. There's little else I can give.

Elon Musk launched his America Party, which honestly looks pretty silly. His whole thing is about government spending. Musk claims that "the people want change" when it comes to the debt ceiling and interest payments on America's loans, but it's likely that if the government focused entirely on lowering the debt people would not like that change and would want to change that too. The whole campaign notion of "change" always bugs me. Change what to what? Let's get specific, because what we've got to know is what you want to do, not what you don't like, and when we hear what you want to do, it's the how you want to do it that is most essential.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was asked about it. "Look," Bessent said, "the principles of DOGE were very popular. I think if you look at the polling, Elon was not. So I believe that the boards of directors at his various companies wanted him to come back and run those companies, which he is better at than anyone.

"So I imagine that those boards of directors did not like this announcement yesterday and will be encouraging him to work on his business activities and not his political activities."

Trump was a bit more succinct, calling the whole thing a "train wreck."

Here's what's on my desk today:

“I’d get pregnant all the time,” Allen said, “all the time.”
