Hi everyone!
I spent the weekend at TPUSA's Young Women's Leadership Summit where attendees were treated to talks from Erika and Charlie Kirk, Riley Gaines, Brett Cooper, Allie Beth Stuckey, and a bunch of other women. Held annually, the summit is a chance for girls to basically have a giant sleepover and show off their prettiest dresses. You may think that downplays it a little bit, but it's like if a girls' school reunion met a professional networking event.
YWLS is my favorite event of the Turning Point calendar because it's not overtly political, but a distinctly cultural affair. I interviewed a few pretty fascinating women, like Annemarie Wiley and Alex Clark, but also got to catch up with people I hadn't seen in a while. Like Taylor Silverman who tells me she's building her own skate ramp at her new home, Pamela Garfield-Jaeger who is launching her new children's book Froggy Girl, and Chloe Cole who is working on a film project. I ran into Savanah Hernandez who was attending with her dad and I asked her about that viral video she shot on the streets of New York where two white saviors stopped everyone from going to work so they could engage in their stupid little protest.
She said that while she normally doesn't get involved while shooting street protests, in this case she was horrified and had to ask the white "man bun" man and woman about how they could actually stand there and block a black mom from going to work. The man, who it turns out won a settlement from the City of New York a few years back after being manhandled or something during a 2020 BLM protest, made fun of the woman for wanting to get to her job. I think I speak for all of when I say this fella is not relatable.
While I was in Texas ogling the hors d'oeuvres in a VIP lounge that was giving bridal boutique, Katie Daviscourt was back on the streets of Seattle covering the "No Kings" riots. Beth Baisch was in Toronto covering what our brethren up north were calling "No Tyrants," because of course they have a king, and his name is Charles, and NJEG Media was covering the scene in New York for The Post Millennial. We've got all the footage up on our X account @tpostmillennial and you can check it out there. Some of it definitely got a little crazy, including an attack on a journalist.
In Minnesota, cops caught the guy who is a suspect in the double homicide of a local lawmaker and her husband who is also believed to have shot with the intention to kill another lawmaker and his wife. No motive is yet known but it does appear to be a case of political violence. Apparently, this guy was a preacher of sorts and involved in work in trades. He had a wife and grown kids and a manifesto was found in his car that officials have already said they're not planning to release.
The war between Israel and Iran kept heating up over the weekend, with Israelis running for bomb shelters while their forces continued their assault on Iran's nuclear facilities. So far, the US has not gotten involved—or at least any more involved than backing Israel. There's definitely a bit of a schism here in the Republican Party and the MAGA base over whether or not the US should get involved. Lots of MAGA faithful say the US should not get involved in any of these foreign wars, that this was a Trump campaign promise and it's just not the right thing to do.
On the other side, you have guys who are definitely more hawkish and want to see not only US material involvement but for the US to undertake some kind of regime change in Iran. It does not yet seem clear what Trump wants to do or what he'll end up doing, but even within the administration, there are passionate voices on either side of that debate. It seems clear that Israel's President Benjamin Netanyahu wants the US to get involved, but mostly because there are some underground nuclear facilities that Israel can't take out with the weapons they have, or at least can't take out as effectively as the US could with big bombers.
There were rumors that the Ayatollah was killed, the Supreme Leader, but we haven't yet verified that. We do know that Israel took out many of Iran's top guys and that Iran was developing a nuclear bomb. Israel has said Iran can't have a bomb, because they don't want a nation that has repeatedly threatened their existence to have the means to carry out that kind of annihilation. Trump has said Iran can't have a bomb as well, the question is how far he's willing to go to make sure that they never get it.
Here's what's on my desk today:

“The face of evil. After relentless and determined police work, the killer is now in custody.”
Salt Lake City ‘No Kings’ protest murder suspect pushed Antifa views
Arturo Gamboa, the man charged with murder after a deadly shooting at Salt Lake City’s “No Kings” protest, appears to be a self-described anti-government radical who publicly supported Antifa.
At least 10 arrested during anti-ICE ‘No Kings’ protests in NYC
Protesters marched down Fifth Avenue waving upside-down American flags and holding signs that read “Stop the Billionaire Takeover,” “No Kings,” and “No Deportations.”
The biggest winner in the Middle East right now is ‘Strategic Genius’ Trump, but neocons want to make him the biggest loser
Trump has stayed the course of America first, Americans first, and keeping America safe.
