Riots in LA entered their fourth straight day as a bunch of people who hate America demanded that people here illegally have the right to stay. Over the weekend, we saw people burning and spitting on American flags, so last night the same groups that were distributing signs, masks, and shields handed out American flags for the protesters to wave instead of flags of other nations. Looks like the social media critique of their optics had an impact and now they will wave American flags while hating America. Aces.
The FBI has identified a guy who was seen on video pelting ICE agents with rocks, though they haven't caught the guy yet, and some 53 people were arrested over the weekend. California Governor Gavin Newsom keeps blaming Trump and not the Biden administration's border policies, or the sanctuary state policies that got so many states into the mess, and has decided to tap into that massive anti-Trump legal slush fund his legislature approved after the election to sue Trump.
Border czar Tom Homan was asked if Newsom should be arrested. When he was asked about the potential arrest of Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass, Homan said "Well, no one's above the law. If they cross the line and commit a crime, absolutely they can."
"Come after me, arrest me, let's just get it over with. Tough guy. I don't give a damn, but I care about my community… and I'm sorry to be so clear, but that kind of bloviating is exhausting. So Tom, arrest me," Newsom said on Sunday. Newsom, of course, would like nothing more than to be arrested, for his gel-coiffed slicked-back mane and his sinister Dick Dastardly smile to be plastered all over the news. It would show his fellow Dems that he's the guy who can take on Trump, who will go to the mat for the little guy.
"I would do it if I were Tom," Trump said when asked about it. "I think it's great. Gavin likes the publicity but I think it would be a great thing. He's done a terrible job. Look, I like Gavin Newsom, he's a nice guy, but he's grossly incompetent, everybody knows. All you have to do is look at the little railroad he's building—about a hundred times over budget."
Meanwhile, in California, it's now illegal to look at your phone to check out the map while driving. It's not illegal, apparently, to shut down the 101 freeway in support of illegal immigrant criminals. Lefties in the media are eating it up as 2025 descends into riot season.
Brian Stelter said not to trust video on social media to give us an accurate representation of what's happening on the ground. A local reporter said that the riots are just "a bunch of people having fun watching cars burn." He said "It could turn very volatile if you move law enforcement in there in the wrong way and turn what is just a bunch of people having fun watching cars burn into a massive confrontation or altercation between officers and demonstrators." ABC 7 said "most of the people have been demonstrating peacefully" and repeated the phrase "peaceful demonstration."
"This is a situation where the LA county police, it's not good, but they're saying they have it under control and the president is sending national troops, federal troops, in a way that hasn't been seen in a long time," said CNN's Dana Bash.
MSNBC came out in support of local cops, too, saying that the "LAPD has this underhand and they are very very experienced in riot control. So this is something they can handle, we do not have to have the National Guard here, and we certainly don't have to have the Marines here. This is a manufactured crisis."
Others called it "intentional chaos." And yeah, in many ways I would agree, but the intentional chaos is not coming from the Trump administration but from the failed border policies of the last administration that are now being cleaned up by Trump at the direct ask of the American people. The chaos is coming from those who are funding the riots, and distributing masks and flags. The chaos is coming from California leaders who back chaos over law and order. None of this had to happen. Under Trump's first term, we had secure borders and orderly immigration.
Joe Biden and the Democrats, who thrive on chaos and crisis, created this flood of illegal immigrants to, if I may don my tin fedora for a moment, destabilize the country, enhance Dem representation in Congress, and create a sub-class of people who work unregulated jobs for low wages.
The nicest way to think about what Biden was doing was that he thought it was empathetic and humanitarian to open borders and let everyone in without realizing the cost in human lives that comes with the journey and enriching the cartels by facilitating that level of human trafficking. But that was def not the motivation of all the America haters involved in making this happen.
