Hi everyone!

President Trump will be laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery to honor the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for our country. He will also deliver some remarks at the cemetery before heading off to Trump National Golf Club for a tee-time. Military service is nothing that I'm personally familiar with, it's not been a tradition in my family. My grandfathers served in World War II, but since then, no one in my immediate family has served.

When Trump delivered his commencement speech at West Point, encouraging cadets, he also spoke about how many of those cadets were part of families that made military service a family tradition. I was very moved by that level of generational service, and if you're part of a family like that, I salute you and thank you as best as I can.

The Trump administration is taking aim at the Flores Settlement again. They tried to get it vacated during their first term, and it was rejected. Obama, too, tried to get around Flores and was also rebuffed. Now, Attorney General Pam Bondi is bringing the case back into the spotlight. It will be heard by California Judge Dolly Gee, who has been presiding over the various cases involved in the settlement since 1997.

The whole thing is absurd: initially, the case was brought to protect unaccompanied minor border crossers from lengthy detentions in adult facilities and it was determined that they could be held for no more than 20 days before being released to a parent or guardian or more suitable accommodation. The government was also required to give them access to basics, like toothpaste and medical care. Okay, sure.

Later, however, it was determined that not only unaccompanied minor border crossers but all minors who cross illegally should be held only for a short period of time. This led to family separation under the Obama administration, because children and the grown-ups with whom they crossed were treated differently under the settlement. But Gee later ruled, in 2015, that if minors were released their grown-ups should be released too, making bringing a child across the border illegally a golden ticket for release into the US.

The Trump administration challenged this but was rebuked. Now they're trying again. AG Pam Bondi is arguing that Flores incentivizes illegal immigration, which it definitely does. It also incentivizes child trafficking. Gee is set to hear the challenge on July 18 and she's unlikely to reverse the settlement or her former decrees and rulings. It's good that it's back in the spotlight, though, or at least waiting in the wings. The case has been going on in some form or another since 1985 and while Gee's rulings are likely believed to be compassionate, they only make things worse for the problem of child trafficking.

Turning Point USA was added to the Southern Poverty Law Center's absurd "hate map." That map essentially brands conservative groups as hateful, comparing them to white nationalist groups like the KKK. Charlie Kirk spoke out against it, as did Elon Musk, both calling the SPLC a "scam." The SPLC called TPUSA an "anti-government extremist group."

That label always cracks me up because like who is actually pro-government? The government is a necessary thing but it's a behemoth of wasteful spending and overreaching laws and aggravations. That's why in literally our First Amendment we have the right to petition our government for a redress of grievances—those grievances that need to be petitioned are grievances against the government. A ton of our laws are about limiting government interference in our lives—and they exist because the government wants to interfere in our lives, which we pretty much don't want.

There's a sad story out of New Hampshire where a couple got married, had a son, and then the dad decided he was trans and screwed up everyone's lives forever. He started doing the whole sex change, then got his wife involved in doing a sex change to essentially reverse their roles. He brought other women into their marriage, and actually came out to his Catholic mother about being polyamorous. And then on May 18 his wife, his son's mother, was found stabbed to death in their home. He's the prime suspect.

My heart breaks for the child in this case who had already lost his father to the trans cult, lost his parents to their own destructive desires, and now has lost his mother to murder and his father to the court system and likely prison. My hope is that the man is not allowed to live in women's prisons.

Here's what's on my desk today:
