May 12, 2025 | Lawmakers storm NJ ICE facility, Qatar gifts Trump a new plane

Dem lawmakers on Friday rushed Delaney Hall, a New Jersey ICE detention center in Newark, demanding that they be allowed to enter the facility and talk to those illegal immigrants who are slated for deportation. Video shows Democrat Rep LaMonica McIver pushing and shoving, trying to get inside, throwing elbows, and yelling in the face of law enforcement officers. The reps claim they were the ones who were assaulted by law enforcement when they were trying to enact their "power to conduct oversight." Along with McIver, Bonnie Watson Coleman was there, as was Rob Menendez. They weren't even prevented from getting in. They were given access on Friday afternoon.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, who said the facility was operating without a permit, was arrested after refusing to leave. He does not have the "power to conduct oversight" of federal facilities like congress members do, and was attempting to get inside. DHS said he "ignored multiple warnings" to leave and did not do so. US Attorney for NJ Alina Habba said "The Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, committed trespass and ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey, this afternoon. He has willingly chosen to disregard the law. That will not stand in this state. He has been taken into custody. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW."

 

The Trump administration's Tricia McLaughlin said, "There will likely be more arrests." Apparently, these lawmakers "holed up in a guard shack" after having "stormed the gate" to get into the facility. "Members of Congress storming into a detention facility goes beyond a bizarre political stunt and puts the safety of our law enforcement agents and detainees at risk," McLaughlin said. "Members of Congress are not above the law and cannot illegally break into detention facilities." Watson Coleman said McLaughlin didn't have her facts straight, saying that they "did not 'storm' the detention center." Even though there's a video.

 

Under the Biden administration, Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz were repeatedly rebuffed and prevented from seeing those J6ers locked in the DC "gulags." They had the "power to conduct oversight," too, but they weren't let in. And those were American citizens. Notably, they did not stage some kind of altercation with law enforcement when they were denied access. They just fought harder within the law to gain in.

 

Reports emerged over the weekend that Trump is set to accept the gift of a plane from the nation of Qatar. That plane will serve as Air Force One, the president's official mode of transport, and will then be handed over to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation at the end of his term. There is so much wrong with this that I literally can't even.

 

Here's why: 1. Gifts given to the US by foreign nations are not for the president. He can only accept them on behalf of the United States, which means he can't just transfer them to his private foundation.

 

2. Why would we put the president on a plane that came from a foreign power? Has no one in the White House ever heard of the Trojan Horse? Just a quick recap, the Trojans and the Greeks were at war over Helen, who apparently was so beautiful that the Greeks and the Trojans launched a war, and ten thousand ships, over her. The Trojans were holed up in their city. The Greeks sent them a present of a big wooden horse. The Trojans accepted it in good faith, opened up the gates, and let in the horse. A bunch of Greek soldiers got out at slaughtered everyone. Do we not think the Qataris aren't going to put even just one little Apple air tag on that plane? What hubris.

 

3. Trump says it's good for taxpayers because the plane is "free," but that screams of bribery of some kind or another. Nothing is free, and Trump, the consummate businessman, should know better. Instead, he complained that people criticizing the acceptance of the gift are "World Class Losers!!!" He even had all three exclamation points and everything. This isn't middle school, Mr. President. "So the fact that the Defense Department is getting a GIFT, FREE OF CHARGE, of a 747 aircraft to replace the 40-year-old Air Force One, temporarily, in a very public and transparent transaction, so bothers the Crooked Democrats that they insist we pay, TOP DOLLAR, for the plane. Anybody can do that! The Dems are World Class Losers!!! MAGA," he said. I'm sure we're all very convinced now that any appearance of corruption is just in our own "loser" heads.

 

Two Frontier Airlines clerks were caught in a viral video refusing to check a man in for his flight. They filmed him while he filmed them. Trying to check in a half hour before his flight, the man was charged $25 for a "late fee," and allegedly said he would never fly this "sh*tty airline again," which I believe many have said when it comes to Frontier. The agents were set off by the remark. One said, "And you thought you was gonna get on your flight?" The other laughed. "Can you please leave, sir? Can you please leave my personal space?"

 

The guy was like, "I'm not in your personal space. This is not your personal space. You work for a company. This is not your personal space." And they STILL refused to check him in for his flight. "You're literally not doing your job for a customer that has paid for a plane ticket to get home," he said. "I'm literally here at Frontier. I bought a ticket, and they are not letting me check in." He ended up having to buy a $500 ticket from another airline. Frontier ponied up and reimbursed him for both flights. But those desk agents at Raleigh-Durham were fired.
