Hi everyone!
Last night, Antifa militants took over a new engineering building on the University of Washington campus, setting fires, blockading entrances, throwing projectiles at police, and demanding that the university do something about Israel. These people are deranged. They like the terror attack of October 7 and think it was justified, which is already deranged enough, but exacerbating that derangement is that they think it has something to do with them, something to do with the University of Washington, and that they can have an impact by hanging around campus, setting fires.
Katie Daviscourt was out reporting for The Post Millennial and caught footage of the fires, the activists, and the arrests. I just want to take a moment and say how great Katie is. You can follow her on X at @KatieDaviscourt. She also caught footage of a National Lawyers Guild rep trying to gain access despite the situation not having been secured by officers. Katie and Ari Hoffman wrote up the whole thing for The Post Millennial, where you can see all the footage and read the background on the lunatics who feel their job is to prevent people from studying as a means to encourage terrorism in the Middle East. Let's not forget that the head of the terrorist group Hamas literally thanked American campus protesters for backing their bloody mission of Israeli eradication.
There are the obvious cognitive dissonance problems with these folx, who I know would appreciate the x, where these militant agitator activist losers think that Israel, the only free democracy in the region, is worse than the terrorist run government of Gaza, which routinely chucks gay people off of a roof simply for the crime of being gay. Gaza bans abortions unless the husband weighs in, which would probably go against the "my body, my choice" UW protesters' ideas of how a proper society should operate. But since their entire point actually has nothing to do with Israel, Gaza, or abortion, and everything to do with the violent overthrow of the West, they definitely don't care.
Riley Gaines is set to speak at UW Tuesday night as part of a Turning Point USA event, and if last night at UW is any indication, it's going to be a mess. Monday night saw Gaines hold an event at the University of Portland, which militant activists attempted to shut down. They tried to break in, they assaulted cops, they smashed glass, and then they attacked people coming out of the building after the event was over. We'll have eyes on UW again tonight.
Trump announced his plan to implement tariffs on films made overseas. "The Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death," Trump said. "Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States. Hollywood, and many other areas within the USA, are being devastated."
It wasn't immediately clear just what would be covered by the tariff, whether it would be for films that had any part of their production overseas or just those that had tax incentives from other nations to shoot there. Trump said that he was "authorizing the Department of Commerce, and the United States Trade Representative, to immediately begin the process of instituting a 100% Tariff on any and all Movies coming into our Country that are produced in Foreign Lands. WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!"
In response, California Governor Gavin Newsom said he wanted to team up with Trumpâthe same guy he and his legislature created a $50 million legal slush fund to fightâto craft a $7.5 billion federal film tax credit to encourage US production. Many states have programs like this to encourage Hollywood to shoot in their states, but right now, there's nothing at the federal level.
"America continues to be a film powerhouse, and California is all in to bring more production here," said Newsom. "Building on our successful state program, weâre eager to partner with the Trump administration to further strengthen domestic production and Make America Film Again."
