Hi everyone!
A judge released a suspect in the Kansas City Tesla dealership firebombing because the man has ADHD, which may be a fake condition, and while in jail lacked access to trans treatment. He allegedly threw the Molotov cocktail in March, he started taking cross-sex hormones in March. His attorney argued that if he were held in jail further, it would be a disruption to his "serious and ongoing" treatment for depression and sex change. Tesla attackers have been identified as terrorists by the DOJ, but this guy hasn't been charged with terrorism.
Pregnant women don't get this kind of favorable treatment when they're in jail, but for some reason, the judge took pity on this guy who set fire to a local business, destroyed property, wished he were the opposite sex, and had a bad case of the sads.
Kamala Harris gave her first big speech back in the political spotlight in California last night as she heads into the running for governor of that great failed state. During her brief speech at a gala dinner for the non-profit Emerge, she spoke for about 15 minutes total, and leaned into the "constitutional crisis" she said is underway under Trump. She praised the Democrat leaders, who she believes are the future of the party, and it's clear from the names she mentioned that the Dems are heading in exactly the wrong direction.
Cory Booker, Chris Van Hollen, Chris Murphy, Jasmine Crockett, Maxwell Frost, AOC, and Bernie Sanders. I think I speak for all of us when I say these are not the leaders we're looking for. She began by doing what Democrats have become incredibly adept at, criticizing America, saying the American Dream has been "slipping out of reach for many," ignoring her and her former boss Joe Biden's record, and complaining that America has not "fully lived up to" its founding ideals. Trump, she said, has undertaken a "wholesale abandonment of those ideals."
"And folks," she said, "what we are experiencing right now is exactly what they envision for America. Right now, we are living in their vision for America. But this is not a vision that Americans want." I don't think she's right about that, do you? Americans believe in merit-based achievement, they believe in opportunity for Americans without undue restrictions and regulations, they believe biology is real, and they believe our borders actually exist, unlike Dems.
Kamala made some false claims. She indicated that American citizens are being "disappeared," likely talking about a 2-year-old whose mother took her with her when she was deported to her home country. She said judges were "upholding the rule of law in the face of those who would jail them," likely in reference to the judge in New Mexico accused of harboring Tren de Aragua members on his property and then destroying evidence that would implicate one of those men and the Wisconsin judge who interfered in the arrest of an illegal immigrant who had an ICE detainer.
She spoke of the universities "that are defying unconstitutional demands that threaten the pursuit of truth and academic independence." These are the same schools that allowed violent protests that targeted Jewish students, allowed the decimation of the rights of women by allowing men to compete on their athletic teams, prioritized race over merit, and brainwashed students into being leftist political activists. There is little truth on college campuses and even less academic independence. Harvard was ranked the worst college for free speech in the nation. She called it "a constitutional crisis" and said that "the one check, the one balance, the One Power that must not fail is the voice of the people." I guess Kamala, like all those others she mentioned, wants to see more street protests. And here we are coming right into riot season.
Meanwhile, a Columbia student protester who is 34-years old was released on bail in Vermont and released a statement outside the courthouse, saying "I am saying it clear and loud to President Trump and his Cabinet: I am not afraid of you." He founded the Palestinian Student Union at Columbia, hails from the West Bank, has a green card, and told 60 Minutes last year that he has promised revenge on Israel and empathizes with Hamas. During a speech, he told students "There's nothing, nothing more honorable than dying for a noble cause for freedom, for humanity, for justice." Marco Rubio has said that agitators like this remaining in the US create a "hostile environment for Jewish students in the United States."
Thanks so much to Meriwether Farms for sponsoring this newsletter! You can use promo code LIBBY to get 15% off on a big box of beef. They come freezer packed and pretty much perfect. So far this week I marinated a flank steak in soy sauce, green onions, and mirin, seared it on the stove for just 4 minutes, and it came out tender and delicious.
