Thursday saw the family and representatives of Karmelo Anthony hold a press conference where they spoke about the troubles facing their family, the rumors circulating in the press, kicked the father of slain teen Austin Metcalf out of the building and blamed the weather for Anthony's fatal stabbing of Metcalf.
Dominique Alexander, who has emerged as a spokesperson for the Anthony family, said "The father being at this press conference, these are my words, don't quote anybody, is a disrespect to the dignity of his son." He went on to say "He knows that it is inappropriate to be near this family. But he did it. Actions speak louder than words." Seems crazy to bar the father of the slain boy from the press conference on his admitted murderer.
But Alexander wasn't done. After Metcalf was escorted out, the press conference continued, and Alexander blamed the school district for the stabbing—which to a certain extent, he makes a point. Many schools have metal detectors and security so that people can't bring weapons to events. Of course, hardening schools is a controversial concept.
Anyway, Alexander said that "Frisco ISD is trying to push off the blame" in that they are trying to expel Anthony, who admitted to killing another student. Alexander went on, saying "What I have not heard the media say, as many media outlets asked us what went on, I'm trying to find how many of y'all have asked the superintendent on one of these board of trustees: Why didn't you cancel or postpone with weather in that magnitude? You couldn't have a track meet in the rain or thunderstorms or clouds."
"Y'all are the media. Ask your journalist, your weather journalist, how the weather was that day and that time. Y'all do that research. 'Cause as a person, who is the administrator of your children, you are responsible for the safety of the children. And so, it seems that Frisco ISD is trying to push this off, by making this decision that they do not have to make," he said, in reference to Anthony's expulsion.
Maryland Senator Chris Von Hollen got his chance to meet with his former constituent Kilmar Abrego Garcia after he'd traveled to El Salvador for the express purpose of doing so. Photos of the visit, during which they were "sipping margaritas," were provided by President Nayib Bukele.
“Kilmar Abrego Garcia, miraculously risen from the ‘death camps’ & ‘torture’, now sipping margaritas with Sen. Van Hollen in the tropical paradise of El Salvador!” Bukele wrote in a post with accompanying photos. "Now that he’s been confirmed healthy, he gets the honor of staying in El Salvador’s custody."
Judges are still mad about Abrego Garcia's deportation, with Judge James Boasberg threatening contempt. What I don't get is just what these judges think the Trump administration should do. The administration is encouraging self-deportation, rounding people up who have criminal records and slating them for deportation, canceling visas, and doing whatever they can to reduce the population of undocumented persons in the United States.
Biden brought everyone in, plunked people down all across the country, gave them semi-legal status, demanded they be given citizenship—all by executive order, all while complaining that Congress wasn't creating new law, all while not enforcing existing law. And now it's like, the judiciary is just fine with all those laws having been broken and is suddenly gung-ho on due process.
Last June, Biden literally dismissed some 350,000 asylum cases and just left those people in limbo. Immigration law says that once a case has been dismissed or denied, that person is eligible for deportation. If the Trump administration dismisses all the asylum cases, aren't they all eligible for deportation?
