A father whose daughter was disabled by an illegal immigrant in a truck driving accident denounced Democrat sanctuary city policies during his testimony in Congress. He slammed their "grandstanding" in Congress and said that he rejected their sympathy.
Marcus Coleman, father of 7-year-old Dalilah Coleman slammed Democrat lawmakers for allowing illegal immigrants in the country and letting them get Commercial Drivers’ Licenses (CDL). This comes as the Trump administration has been making efforts to get illegal immigrants and other unqualified migrants who have not learned English off the road from behind the wheel of large rigs.
“I reject your guys’ sympathy, to be honest with you,” Coleman told the Democrat lawmakers.
“There’s no way you guys are sorry," he added. "Not one of you guys have ever called me. Not one of you guys have ever reached out to me. Not when you guys have ever sat there and seen me in the hallways and said, ‘Hey, sorry about your daughter. You guys do it right here while you guys are grandstanding on top of your soapbox. This is when you guys care. Right here inside this room is the only time you guys care.”
Dalilah Coleman was left with a fractured skull, broken femur, and a traumatic brain injury when she was in a car crash in California in 2024. Coleman said that his sweet daughter "doesn't deserve" what took place. The crash resulted in her not being able to walk, eat orally, or attend kindergarten. She was in the hospital without half her skull for four months and was in a coma for three weeks.

"She didn't ask for any of this," the father added. "The people that jumped the fence did though. They knew exactly what they were doing. They still chose to move forward in that direction. And every day something's happening to somebody, and it is your guys' fault. I hold each and every one of you responsible for it, and I always will."
Dalilah was in Southern California when the driver of an 18-wheeler tractor trailer slammed into the car she was in at 60 miles per hour. The man behind the wheel of the large rig was identified as Partap Singh, an illegal immigrant from India. Despite being in the country illegally, Singh was able to obtain a CDL.
He was driving unsafely and did not brake when he approached a construction zone right before the crash took place. ICE lodged a detainer against Singh in the aftermath of the crash. He illegally crossed the border in 2022 and was let into the country by the Biden administration. He was arrested in Fresno in August 2025.

Marcus Coleman served as a witness in the Congressional hearing which was examining the sanctuary city policies of various Democrat-led states, including California.
Coleman told the Democrat lawmakers that he has had to scrape by and has stopped working as a truck driver. "I'm no longer truck driving. I no longer make the money that we used to make. I'm now pinching pennies," Coleman added. "I have nine kids, by the way, that I take care of, and I had to sit there and stretch that."
