Police arrested at least 20 agitators at the Newark, New Jersey Delaney Hall ICE facility on Sunday night as clashes broke out despite the curfew imposed by Newark Mayor Ras Baraka. Masked demonstrators engaged in riotous activity throughout the weekend following weeks of protests.
The 9 pm curfew had been imposed earlier in the day a and DHS said that the agency would have "ZERO tolerance for rioters." Democrats alleged that detainees at the facility were experiencing inhumane conditions, which DHS contests. New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill was out at the facility as well and attempted to lower the temperature on the entire situation. She also said she didn't know what the masked agitators wanted.

Doremus Avenue was closed off by local and state police a short distance from the Delaney Hall ICE facility in an effort to stop groups from reaching the building. After the curfew was imposed the number of agitators on the scene shrank to around 100, per the New York Post.
Police dressed in riot gear then advanced on the crowd. Law enforcement fired off couple rounds of tear gas, causing more people to flee. Those with press passes got out of the group and then officers cuffed around 20 to 25 anti-ICE agitators.

Footage posted online showed the agitators getting hauled off into Essex County Sheriff’s Department buses. "If you riot, you will face the consequences. Law and order prevails,” DHS posted on X.
Baraka's 9 pm to 6 am curfew is in effect until further notice in the Delaney Hall vicinity. Over the past week, there have been several intense and violent clashes between anti-ICE rioters as well as law enforcement. In one instance, a rioter was arrested for allegedly biting an ICE officer. The same suspect had previously been charged with child sex crimes.
In another spat, a mob of anti-ICE rioters had robbed reporter Cam Higby of his phone as well as other equiptment. Higby posted about the incident on Friday.
